The Journey
10 Years ago I retired from the NHS and re-invented myself as a Beauty Consultant. All my life I have been interested in natural health & beauty and have always used plant based products where & when I could find them, as well as natural holistic medicine. This led me to approach Neals Yard Remedies where at 65 years young I joined the sales team and received valuable training in their lovely products and more importantly in aromatherapy.
After selling with NYRO for a while I became really interested in learning how to make natural skincare myself. So I decided to train further in this area using essential oils and organic natural ingredients, making products completely from scratch.
Experimenting in my kitchen, driving my hubby mad when all he wanted was a coffee and a piece of toast only to discover that I had completely annexed the space, creating lotions and potions, whilst the bread bin was empty and there was no milk anyway. Carrying on like this, it took about 3 years of trial and error to really master art of skincare whilst making mistakes along the way. I can only thank Tim for his enduring patience and faith in me, when I really didn't know what I was doing but only knew it felt great to create.....Fast forward and soon I became quite well known for creating my luxurious Lemon & Geranium hand cream & a number of other beautiful handmade products which were available at a very competitive price & at bespoke market stalls or via a simple email directly to me.
After Lockdown hit it was no longer viable to just sell at market stalls so it was then that I decided to create an online shop, Joys Pamper Parlour. At that time I had already been selling well at a selection of market stalls and loved interacting with customers, but this avenue had completely dried up. I started selling regularly to customers via my website and on Etsy but I still really missed the face to face contact with people.
Another fast forward to the present and my range includes: handream, balm, crystal therapy oils, eye pillows, bath powders, bath bombs, massage oils, candles, lavender bags, soaps, room sprays & body atomising hydrosols.
Since we moved 4 yrs ago to the stunning countryside that is Pewsey Vale in East Wiltshire, I have started growing my own lavender again, as well as other flowers and plants & am back at bespoke market stalls in the area, meeting customers again and making new friends. Joys Pamper Parlour has morphed into Joys Floral Essences & we are firmly "Back in the Room!"
During the past year, I have also been studying the wonders of what are Bach Flower Remedies. Studying at the Dr Bach Centre based in Oxford and online. As a result, I have started making a few Flower Remedies myself, harvesting specific flowers from my garden and creating certain bespoke remedies, based on the Dr Bach method. I have also just completed my Level 3 training programme which will enable me to qualify as a Bach Practitioner and therefore I can provide private consultations to clients, both locally on a 1-1 basis and internationally via online. Should you require this service, please do visit the 'Contacts' page to email me & get in touch. I would be delighted to hear from you.
Dr Bach, who lived 100 years ago, and in my opinion was a genius ahead of his time, created a wonderful system identifying certain plants that can treat, balance and calm the emotions. His 'Dr Bach Rescue Remedy' can currently be purchased at any UK Boots store & is specifically designed to treat people who have suffered trauma and are in shock.
In the same way, my Honeysuckle & Marigold Remedies are generally available to buy & will provide a certain amount of specific relief to their user. They are: Equilibrium, Calming & Marigold. However, It is as well to also point out that in order to comprehensively treat a client specifically using the Bach System who is experiencing their own certain set of emotions at a particular time in their life, a private consultation is highly recommended in the first instance.
In today's frenetic society my feeling is that there is a real need for creating such natural products & services & making them readily available to the public as a means of greatly assisting in pro-active self care, self empowerment and a way of taking charge of our own emotional wellbeing that can directly impact on our physical wellbeing thus enabling
us all to better navigate a way through the 21st century in a cool, calm & collective manner.
